Searching for a snack idea?

I get this question all the time, “What can I eat for a snack (now that your blog has greatly decreased my options!)?”

One of my go-to snacks is greek yogurt. High in protein, full of probiotics, can be added to smoothies, used for dips, or eaten on it’s own!

Here’s one I take to class with me!

1 cup PLAIN greek yogurt (protein, plain is lower in carbohydrates)

1/2 banana, mashed (simple carbohydrates)

~10 raw almonds (healthy fats) or 1 tablespoon of chia seeds

dash of cinnamon.

I know- plain yogurt just tastes awful if you’re used to “regular” yogurt. But I’m serious, the taste will grow on you. Adding a mashed banana or other types of fruit help add natural sweetness, rather than eating sweet yogurt full of refined sugar or high fructose corn syrup. If you really can’t tolerate it, add honey, agave, or a no-calorie sweetener like stevia, truvia, or ideal.

Dannon Oikos is the lowest priced Greek yogurt I’ve found ($4.99 for 32 oz, or 4 cups). Fage and Chobani are more expensive, but if they are on sale, I’ll get them.

So- there is an easy snack idea! Make it before class or work and bring it with you. This snack is probably less than $2, so come prepared and you’ll not only save calories, you’ll save money, too!
